Rohnert Park's
Sonoma Mountain
Art & Wine Festival
One of a rare breed of true "Plein Air" artists, Lorraine's paintings sing with color and light...illuminating the beauty and unique character of Sonoma County.
Painting outside is challenging for any artist, but Lorraine finds it exciting.
Artist's Statement
"Plein air painting for me is reaching in a spontaneous way to the view I see.
I feel an excitement and immediacy when working from life that I do not feel when working from photographs or even my own sketches.
I love painting from life as I feel it captures life itself. I find the rapture of being alive when I paint outside.
I do my best painting when I paint intuitively and don't intellectualize about it.
It seems to go downhill if I analyze too much."
